THE GOSPEL OF MERCY,
THE SOURCE OF LIFE
Today I bring to you the gospel of mercy; for it is written
‘’blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy’’, and mercy I tell you
is bye product of love. God is a merciful God and Jesus himself is the merciful
son of the merciful father, in that same way God wants us to be merciful too,
for our rate of mercy towards others shall determine the rate of God’s mercy on
us. The scripture voiced out:
- · Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy (Mathew 5:7)
- · Be merciful even as your father is merciful (Luke 6:36)
- · But judgment is without mercy for he that have shown no mercy (James 2:13)
- · Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us (Mathew 6:12-14)
- · As I have love you, so you must love one another (John 13:34)
All this emphasized on how our rate of mercy will to the
rate of mercy we obtain, although the church has been proclaiming the mercy of
God, but a different structure of the message and the most important and most
serious came through several revelation from our lord Jesus Christ to saint
Maria Faustina, emphasizing more on his mercy toward us (even the most harden
sinner) and the need for us to be merciful too as the scripture has said
earlier. Nobody knew she was receiving such a revelation from God, which
reflected in her way of life. It was after her death, when her personal diary
was approached, there she recorded all that she has received from the lord and
when gone through was found to be genuine and fro there most of the new message
of mercy and prayers were extracted which include:
- The divine mercy message and devotion (as requested by Jesus Christ in those revelation to saint Faustina),
- Divine mercy prayers,
- Chaplet of divine mercy,
- Divine mercy novena,
- Divine mercy stations,
- Divine mercy praises,
- Divine mercy image/ it veneration,
- The hour of mercy.
We do pray for the grace of God in all we do, the grace to
do this and the grace to do that, but I tell you, the grace of God is a
specified mercy/love from Him and we can only obtain this by being merciful
too. God’s mercy flows to everyone even to the greatest sinner, but we have to
avoid sin because ‘’the grater the
sinner the grater the fight he has to God’s mercy’’. When the solider at the foot of Jesus cross
stabbed him by the side, he open the way to His mercy (just as the curtain of
the temple teased and opened the way to God individually) and immediately the
love and mercy itself poured out in the form of blood and water from the merciful
heart of Jesus to all who will come to him to receive the grace and blessing
(as the one eyed soldier was healed when the mercy of God poured out to his
eyes). This blood and water was represented with red and white rays of light
coming forth from the heart of Jesus in the image of divine mercy.
The
more righteous we are the more the mercy of God on us, and the more the mercy
of God on us, the more we extend it to others, with this we are good to go. The

A----ask for his mercy, B----be merciful, C-----complete trust
The 7 corporal works of mercy are:
Ø
To feed the hungry.
Ø
To give water to the thirsty.
Ø
To cloth the naked.
Ø
To shelter the homeless.
Ø
To visit the sick.
Ø
To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive.
Ø
To bury the dead.
The 7 spiritual works of mercy:
Ø
To instruct the ignorant.
Ø
To counsel the doubtful.
Ø
To admonish the sinners.
Ø
To bear patiently those who wrong us.
Ø
To forgive offenses.
Ø
To comfort the afflicted.
Ø
To pray for the living and the dead.
